Meet the Director

Isabel Raven

We set many challenges for ourselves but we pulled it off

Isabel Raven is a recent Film and Media student from Sheffield Hallam University, majoring in directing. With a creative passion for writing and directing, Isabel has been involved in many short films such as, ‘The Bench’ and ‘Buskers: A Natural Art’, both of which have been screened at Showroom Shorts.

With a years teaching experience and a theatre background Isabel thrives from working with actors and exploring different directing techniques. Another major interest of hers is writing screenplays. Along with writing short films such as, ‘Redgrave’, she is currently working on a short series which she hopes to take into production in the near future.

Nadege Disasi

People said that it may be too challenging but I just brushed that off my shoulder!

An enthusiastic and determined filmmaker who is keen on creating surreal art by working alongside a creative and active team. Nadege is magnetic, friendly and hardworking individual who has the ability to envision and organise a unique idea from beginning to end. Nadege is also a recent Film & Media Production International Student Graduate from Sheffield Hallam University, majoring in Producing. 

Nadege's adoration for film grew during her High School experience in Botswana, creating a film about peer bullying which achieved high remarks. Her flame grew more intense when she moved to the UK to study. Her admiration for film is still flourishing in fabricating outstanding pieces to evoke responses from an audience. Some include "The Bench (2015)", "Doppelgänger" and "Buskers' A Natural Art (2015)."Her perseverance has been carried out throughout her work into University. This has resulted in her success in portraying her films; "The Bench (2015)" and Buskers' A Natural Art (2015)" to multiple screens such as South Yorkshires Filmmakers Network event "Showroom Short" at Showroom Cinema and "The Magic Lantern Film Festival presented by Abbydale Picture House in Sheffield. 

Nadege's previous experience in various productions and freelance work has helped shaped her to the person she is today. Some of her work include assembling a promotional trailer for Marchen Theatre Co. and working as a Live Director for Code Delta Broadcasting Team BUCS. Nadege's other major interest includes photography, writing and directing. She is keen on creating more eccentric pieces that can evoke an audience in some way. One of her current work is "Redgrave (2017) which she hopes evoke a reaction from a wide audience. Nadege continues to aspire in gaining more practical and valuable skills in making her mark in the filmmakers world.

Courtney Wotherspoon

"I want the visuals to connect to the audience!"

Courtney’s passion lies within the visual world, focusing herself upon creating interesting motion pictures for audiences to behold. She is a recent graduate of Film and Media Production from Sheffield Hallam University, majoring in Cinematography. Her previous work includes a TV pilot, ‘Match Me If You Can’, and various short films including ‘Doppelganger’ and ‘The Bench’, the latter shown at ‘Showroom Shorts’ and ‘Picture House Social’ in 2016.

Courtney was previously a member of HSU Theatre for two years where she worked on productions such as ‘Bouncers & Shakers’, ‘Soho Cinders’ as Stage Manager and ‘High School Musical’ as Producer.

Meet the Sound Recordist & Designer

Alexandra Saunders

"I want the music to be recognisable as Redgrave's"

Alex’s enthusiasm for sound recording and design began when working on a number of short film productions in her second year of university at Sheffield Hallam, including titles such as “Rabbit” and “Bloom”. Once she began to delve into the world of sonic style her passion for sound grew tenfold, working as both a boom operator and sound mixer for numerous drama and documentary projects.

With a continued valuable work ethic and positive attitude, Alex has obtained many transferable skills on numerous productions; including working as main camera operator for a live online stream of the BUCS volleyball finals and as a production assistant on a music video for upcoming band Mint. Alongside this, Alex has also imparted her passion and knowledge by teaching film to teenagers with the NCS summer programme and shared it with the community.

Her films have been screened at a number of different locations, including Abbeydale Picture House, The Showroom Cinema and Kingsgate Community Church, where her film “The Unseen” won runner up for Best Drama in 2012. Alex hopes to continue to network and build her experience in her main area of interest; sound recording and design, eventually pursuing a career in television or documentary filmmaking.

Meet the Editor

Kathryn Adam

"I like and aim to make my own style."

Kathryn Adam is a recent Film and Media Production graduate from Sheffield Hallam University, majoring in editing. Whilst studying, Kathryn has been doing some freelance work with Silvertone Productions on music videos as well as showreels and promotional videos for other clients such as SHUSS (Sheffield Hallam University Salsa Society), Will Armson Cinematographer, Toast Sheffield tribute band and Blake UK. Kathryn has always thrived in her creativity and enthusiasm towards film as well as being the light personality within a crew. Her drive and passion pushes her daily to achieve her goal of becoming a successful female editor. 

Kathryn’s work on University short films have been shown in multiple screens across Sheffield, venues like Showroom Cinema (Showroom Shorts presented by South Yorkshire Filmmakers Network), Abbeydale Picture House (Magic Lantern Film Festival) and The Void Sheffield Hallam University. In addition to editing, Kathryn also has knowledge of sound design/recording and adequate camera operating skills that she applies to her independent work.
